Hollingworth took the lead half way through the first half after the Signol keeper dropped the ball leading scorer Joe Mennell was on hand to poke the ball home, the rest of the half was end to end with chances going begging at both ends. Early in the second half Hollingworth were awarded penalty after captain Tim Malkin was brought down,he picked himself up and duely dispatched the ball into the corner of the net. The goal spurred Signol on who bombarded the Hollingworth goal winning corner after corner and got a deserved goal, but unlike last season Hollingworth didn't crumble under the pressure far from it after some great work by Joe Mennell who played the ball through to Ross Willis who finished superbly. The last 15 mins saw constant pressure from Signol and they pulled another goal back, Hollingworth were hanging on and in the last minute captain Tim Malkin cleared the ball off the line and it was a great relief when the final whistle was blown. I would just like to thank the lads for this fantastic performance especially George Leech who was outstanding in goal and Signol who made this a great cup game to watch although very nerve racking for the manager. WELL DONE LADS. |
