Message from the managers
This season will not be forgotten for many years. It was a real pleasure working with the team and achieving the Treble. All the players worked 100% and never gave up. They tried to put into practice everything that they were taught in training and even if it did not come off they did try.
In years to come this group of young men can tell their friends and families what a great team spirt they had and that they would do anything for each other. This team is surely one of the best in the area and maybe country. Well done lads for a fantastic season.

Sunday 10th September - Cheshire Cup - Hollingworth 4 V 2 Hale Barnes
A great start to the new season with a win in the first round of the Cheshire Cup against good opposition. Hale Barnes played some neat passing football but Hollingworth was generally the more physical and made numerous attempts on the Hale Barnes goal only to see the away team score midway through the first half. Hollingworth started the second half in much the same way as the first period but struggled yet again to find the target. Eventually the equaliser came but Hale Barnes went 2 - 1 up almost immediately. Hollingworth came back again through a penalty and then over ran the away team to finally come out 4 - 2 winners. A thoroughly deserved win and a great attitude by all the players who never lost composer and kept to playing football in the correct manner.

Sunday 24th September - Hollingworth 5 V 0 Great Moor
The first league game of the season and Hollingworth came out in the same style as they finished last season. Some great approach play in the first half against a physical side but nothing to show for it until the Great Moor keeper made a mistake to see the ball go through his hands. A second followed late on in the first half to see Hollingworth 2 up at the break. A more determined Great Moor side came out in the second half that pressurised a lack lustre Hollingworth team. Hollingworth finally started to play as they did in the first half and went on to score a further 3 goals. Hollingworth was completely dominant for a majority of the game but we need to keep concentrating and not let the opposition have a glimmer of hope for the whole 80 minutes.

Sunday 1st October Cheshire Cup 1st Round Proper Olympic FC 0 V 3 Hollingworth
The 100 mile plus round trip to deepest Wallasey was not a disappointment as Hollingworth pulled of a great win against a strong Olympic side. Our under 15s had the best chances throughout both halves and should have capitalised on the numerous attempts they created. Olympic was more interested in trying to play the off side trap that did work but only because the referee played to the calls from the home team supporters. Niall Cannons great first half strike gave Hollingworth the lead at the break, a headed own goal and a fantastic individual effort by Aaron Broadly in the second half made it safe and put Hollingworth into the 2nd round.

Sunday 8th October Hollingworth 2 V 3 Hazel Grove
A very disappointing game, not only because of the score line but the way the team performed. Hollingworth persisted in playing the ball in the air and not on the ground, the players rarely spoke to each other and above all did not seem to know what to do with the ball once they had possession. Hazel Grove disserved the win and Hollingworth can count themselves lucky they only conceded 3 goals. Better performances are required if they want to retain their title.

Sunday 15th October - Hillgate 1 V 1 Hollingworth

A very frustrating game to watch as Hollingworth completely dominated from start to finish and managed to hit the woodwork more times than Hillgate had attacks on goal. This week Hollingworth played football as we know they can and opened up the opposition on several occasions only to see the post. cross bar or keeper stop the ball from crossing the line. A very good team performance, great football and good attitude.

Sunday 5th November - Cheshire Cup Dukinfield Town 0 V 6 Hollingworth Juniors
Earlier in the season we witnessed one of the poorest Hollingworth performances against Hazel Grove this game however was one of our best displays ever. Right from the start we passed the ball quickly and used our strength phenomenally well, within the first ten minutes we had two goals and in complete control, Dukinfield had no answer to our pace or passing ability. Although all the goals were very good two was outstanding, firstly a side footed volley at the back post following a long throw in and secondly a goal that started in our own penalty area and three passes later ended up in the Dukinfield net.
A superb performance from all the team.

Sunday 12th November - Stockport Metro Cup Hollingworth 5 V 1 Marple
Another outstanding display although Hollingworth should of scored at least another four. Marple showed little resistance and had no direct shots on goal or corners throughout the whole game. Hollingworth passed the ball with ease and switched play at will. All the team played for one another and backed each other up when necessary. The next three weeks will be testing with a league game away to Apollo followed by two cup games, one in the Stockport Cup the other in the Cheshire Cup.

Sunday 19th November - Apollo 4 V 2 Hollingworth

Its difficult to know where to start with our performances this season, but it is obvious that we have lost some of our passion to win games and have become very inconsistent. We had numerous chances throughout the game but failed to make the keeper work, we gave the ball away far to easily and never kept possession when we did manage to gain some kind of control. Apollo disserved to win and played some good football but above all they had the desire that we lacked.

Sunday 26th November - Stockport Metro Cup Bramhall Tigers 0 V 9 Hollingworth
Back to winning ways and a good team performance with some nice controlled possession and two touch football. The pick of the goals came from Aaron Broadley who finished a move that had at least three one-twos and a few two touch passes. Praise must be given to Bramhall who turned up under strength and although never really had any possession still carried on trying to play until the end.

Sunday 3rd December - Cheshire Cup Helsby FC 1 V 2 Hollingworth
A potentially good game of football was spoilt by a very heavy pitch and very strong winds. Helsby took the lead playing with the wind but Hollingworth managed to equalise before the end of the first half. Hollingworth had slightly more possession in the second half and overall disserved the winner that came from a Zack Goddard free kick that was put in by Aaron Broadley at the back post.
Hollingworth never gave up and worked very hard for each other even thought Helsby did make some very cynical challenges throughout the game.

Sunday 14th January - Cheshire Cup Quarter Final Poulton Victoria 0 V 1 Hollingworth
The best team performance Hollingworth have displayed for a long time. Every player worked 100% for each other and wanted to compete to the very end. Poulton have not been beaten in the league for 4 seasons and played some very nice football, however they could not out play the determination of the Hollingworth side who defended outstandingly, battled in mid field and chased every ball to the forward line. With the game goalless at the end of full time extra time was required and deep into the second period a superb free kick to the back post was controlled by Aaron Broadley who fired past the keeper. A fantastic game to watch although it was spoiled slightly by some very strange refereeing decisions.
Well done Hollingworth for a great team effort.

Sunday 21st January - Stockport Cup 2nd Round. Hollingworth 4 V 0 Cheadle & Gatley

A very controlled performance by Hollingworth who dominated from start to finish. Cheadle never really had any proper attempts on goal and Hollingworth should of had at least another 4 goals. Although Hollingworth were a bit lack lustre they tried to play the passing game in poor conditions and overall well deserved the win.

Sunday 28th January - Signol 1 V 4 Hollingworth
A great performance in very difficult conditions and a poor playing surface. Signol never really troubled the Hollingworth gaol and only had a couple of chances throughout the game. Hollingworth dominated from start to finish and should of really been 4 up at the break. The team played for each other and especially the strikers who held the ball well and made some tremendous breaks.

Sunday 4th February - Priory 0 V 7 Hollingworth
The score line slightly flatters Priory who did not have a single attempt on goal the whole game. Hollingworth on the other hand should of been well into double figures but for some wayward finishing. Complete domination from start to finish with some good team work and spirit during the game. This was possibly the best preparation before the next match against Sale United in the Cheshire Cup.

Sunday 11th February Cheshire up Semi Final - Sale United 0 V 4 Hollingworth

The score line does not really tell the whole story, Sale played some good football and did have plenty of possession for long periods of the game. However Sale found it difficult to cope with the power of the Hollingworth side and did take some knocks. The Hollingworth side gave 100% and could not of played any more professionally, they worked hard for each other and wanted the victory more than Sale.

Sunday 18th February Hollingworth 7 V 1 Glossop
Bragging rights certainly go to Hollingworth in this local derby but this is not the whole story. Glossop did try to play some good football but they did not have the strength to cope with a Hollingworth side that is flying high and going from strength to strength. Very strong performances from midfield and attack along with complete control in defence. Lets hope the lads can carry on performing this way for the remainder of the season.

Sunday 25th February Stockport Metro Cup -Hollingworth 4 V 0 Signol.

For the second time this season Hollingworth have managed to put 4 past Signol on a poor playing surface. Hollingworth had to much strength and Signol only had a couple of proper attempts on goal throughout the whole game. Hollingworth in the first half played some very good football and the communication on the field was excellent. Signol again in the league in a couple of weeks and lets hope for the same result.

Sunday 11th March Hollingworth 5 V 3 Signol
A difficult game to analyse as Hollingworth did not play particularly well but somehow managed to come away with an important league victory that keeps them in with a good chance at the end of the season.

Sunday 18th March Stockport Metro Cup Semi-final, Hollingworth 6 V 2 Juno

Very poor weather conditions with snow, sleet and blowing a gail but Hollingworth gave their all to come out victorious to reach their second cup final this season. Playing into the wind in the first half was a struggle but Hollingworth never gave up and despite being behind twice they still managed to end the half 3 - 2 in front. The second half was a little more one sided with the lads showing their class and strength to score a further 3 goals and finish 6-2 winners

Sunday 25th March, Cheshire County F.A, Junior Challenge Cup Final, Glenavon 1 V 2 Hollingworth

By no means the most spectacular game ever seen but probably the most important one played by this group of players so far. The final of the Cheshire Cup was played at Christleton FC near Chester between Glenavon from the Wallasey Junior League and Hollingworth of the Stockport Metro Junior League. Both Glenavon and Hollingworth played very nervously and it wasn't until later on in the first half when Hollingworth scored by Aiden Phillips. Unfortunately Glenavon equalised from the restart with a long ball that bounced over the stranded Hollingworth keeper and into the open goal. The second half was again a stop start affair with both teams unwilling to try and open the other defence up. With five minutes remaining the ball found its way through to Danny Mizen who chipped the on coming goal keeper and found the net. Overall the game was very tight with few attempts on goal but Hollingworth did show their ability to keep composed and fight for each other until the end. Well done lads for an outstanding achievement lets try and make it a treble.
