Hillgate Boys 1 Hollingworth Juniors 5 Sunday 27/01/08
This was a much improved performance from Hollingworth. With the pitch heavy down the middle it was imperative that the u12s used there two wingers. The first goal came this way with Frank Donald and Elliot Draper creating a tap in for Ryan Murray. In the second half Alex Ball crossed for Connor Simpson to shoot, the keeper could only parry the shot, as the ball was boucing towards goal Frank Donald rammed home from an inch out! Hillgate were still having a lot of the ball in midfield but didn't really have an end product. The last 10 minutes of the game brought 4 more goals. Hollingworth's third was again scored by Frank Donald this time firing in after Max Whites effort had come back of the post. Hillgate scored a minute later with a good finish from just inside the area. Still Hollingworth weren't finished and another goal created from a wide position, Max White crossing for Alex Ball to volley home from 10 yards out. The final piece of action was for man of the match Brad Rawlinson to smash home the fifth after a scramble following a corner. The win puts the u12s into 2nd place a point behind leaders Stockport dynamoes who they play next.

Stockport Dynamos 3 Hollingworth Juniors 0 Sunday 3/02/
08
U12s played superbly well. We missed a host of chances in the first half, Josh Baines, Josh Jackson and Ryan Murray being the culprits. They were made to pay when a ball over the top that was going to be dealt with by Danny Ashton, got stuck in the mud allowing the forward to score. The 2nd half was much the same as we took the game to the opposition, Max White and Frank Donald both having goals disallowed. The dynamos launched another clearance down the middle and the forward scored again. We were still in the game tho' and Alex Ball was unlucky not to get a penalty when caught twice in the box. Stockport then scored a third goal near the end after another huge kick up-field.
We played well but unfortunately it wasnt our day.

Hollingworth Juniors 1 Stockport Vikings 0

The game had to be switched to Stockport because someone has ruined the Hollingworth pitch by riding a motorbike over it!!(Thanks for that!!!) On a cold and very wet Sunday morning the u12s ground out a result that come the end of the season could be the difference between going up or missing promotion. In a first half that was more often than not played in midfield both teams were finding it difficult to stamp any authority on the game. Both teams were having a few half chances. Stockport having a succession of corners that Hollingworth were struggling to cope with. Hollingworth went close after Ryan Murray just failed to get on the end of the best move of the half from a Frank Donald cross. Just before half-time the Vikings were awarded a penalty but keeper Liam Percy made a great save with his feet as the ball spun over the bar. The second half was much better with the u12s getting there passing game going. Both defences were still on top and it looked more likely that one goal either way would be enough to win the game. Fortunately Hollingworth scored that goal. When it came it was worthy of winning any match.Elliot Draper fired a corner into the middle of the goalmouth, a Vikings defender headed it out, the ball fell to Danny Ogden who volleyed in from 25 yards giving the keeper and defender on the line no chance. A truly superb goal. Stockport had a chance just before the end but the ball went wide from a tight angle. Hollingworth should have made sure of the game but a series of poor finishing and bad luck had them hanging on. But they just about deserved the victory.

Whaley Bridge 2 Hollingworth 2 Sunday 02/03/08
Hollingworth were up against there bogey side Whaley bridge on a very windy morning. Manager Pete Donald gave the boys there instructions of keeping it tight for the first 10 minutes. The result...1 down after 5!! He made an early change and was rewarded when a cross from Sam Wellings was handled in the box for a penalty. Ryan Murray sent the keeper the wrong way with the resulting spot kick. The u12s had the bit between there teeth now and were creating some good openings. The Whaley keeper was in fine form keeping out efforts from Josh Jackson and Brad Rawlinson. Hollingworth didn't have to wait to long to go into the lead, a ball whipped in from the left by Jackson was met full on by Ryan Murray who nearly took the net out. Playing against the wind in the second half the u12s were bombarded with long balls into the box. The defence were dealing very well with the high balls and were breaking well when they had the chance. With five minutes to go tho' disaster struck, when out of nothing Whaley scored to equalize. The remaining time was played in the bridge penalty area but chances went begging. With 5 games to go and all to play for Hollingworth could finish 1st or 7th!! It's that tight at the top.

Bramhall North Lions 2 Hollingworth 1 Sunday 16/03/08
MANAGER PETE DONALD SACKED!!!!
From navigation duties! How we got hopelessly lost will be yet another season long mystery! He actually blamed his satnav for getting the whole team lost!!! Navigation manager is now Dave Hallam, good luck in your new role Dave!!!! The best two footballing sides in the division were up against each other at the weekend and put on a great show on a difficult pitch. The late arrival didn't upset the u12s as they got into the game very quickly. The lions were giving as good as they got though and it was they who had the first shot at goal. Stand in keeper Danny Ashton making a good save at the strikers feet. Hollingworth went close when a corner wasn't cleared Alvar Paris' shot went narrowly wide. We got the first goal of the game when great play down the left wing between Max White and Josh Jackson resulted in a goal for Alex Ball. tapping into an unguarded net. Bramhall equalised immediately when a shot went in off the post.

The second half was end to end and a great advert for the metro league. Both sides were having chances but in fairness it was the lions that were having the more clear-cut ones. The keeper and the defence were playing superbly well. With ten minutes left the home side scored the winner, the forward racing onto a through ball and scoring in the corner. Hollingworth had a chance in the last minute but Alex Ball was just to high with his shot.

Chapel Town 2 Hollingworth 1 Sunday 06/01/08
For the attention of Gareth Jones!!!
After having no game for 6 weeks the under 12s scored after only 90 seconds Elliot Draper firing home. That was as good as it got! We were rubbish after!!! Chapel thoroughly deserved the victory. It would have been more convincing but for the heroics of keeper Liam Percy who quite rightly was named man of the match.

Hollingworth 4 Cheadle and Gatley 1 Sunday 6/04/08

After 4 weeks without a game the u12s started a little rusty. Cheadle are fighting relegation and needed the points. With the Cheadle goal leading a charmed life it was left to Danny Ogden to score a brilliant goal from just outside the area to ease any tension Hollingworth might have had. Alex Ball then put the hosts further in front scoring from a yard out after the keeper had saved Frank Donald's header. Cheadle then reduced the lead when their forward rounded keeper Percy to score. Hollingworth were still the better side and went further ahead when leading scorer Ryan Murray headed home from a corner. The final goal came from man of the match Frank Donald, he beat three defenders and curled a superb shot into the top corner for his 3rd goal in the last 3 games.

Hollingworth 6 Reddish Athletic 2 Sunday 13/04/08
How this game was played will forever be a mystery. The pitch was a muddy mess! This was the Max White show. He scored five of the Hollingworth goals. He got the ball rolling with a tap in after the keeper fumbled a shot. Reddish soon levelled from a corner. Ryan Murray restored the lead for Hollingworth slotting into an empty net after Alex Ball had drawn the keeper out. Just before the break Reddish equalised again after a melee in the box. Stern words were said at the interval, and Hollingworth came out fighting. White scored another tap in and then completed his hat-trick scoring the goal of the game side footing home from just outside the area. The Reddish boys' heads dropped and White helped himself to two more goals. The first from a corner smashing in from the six yard box. The last goal from a yard out when a goal Josh Jackson shot got stuck in the mud and Max was on hand to force the ball home.
