The U12 went 1 down when in the first game of the season when Hillgate
forward lobbed keeper Liam Percy. Ryan Murray soon equalised with a lovely
finish in the top corner to give the keeper no chance it was 1-1 at half
time. Hillgate went in front just after the interval but the Hollingworth
heads didn’t drop and they were playing better football. Ryan Murray
scored after a corner wasn’t cleared; Murray then put the home team
upfront for the first time running onto a delightful ball from Danny Ogden.
Frank Donald then bundled the ball home from a yard out when the keeper
failed to hold a cross Elliot draper then scored with his right foot (
first time ever!) smashing his shot in the top corner. Hillgate scored
a late consulation but Hollingworth ran out worthy winners
Ryan Murray and Danny Ogden were men of the match
Woodley
Albion 1 Hollingworth 1 Weds 12/09/07
First midweek game of the season. A game of two halves.
We went 1-0 down in the 1st half after a long punt up field caught the
defence napping. The 2nd half was all Hollingworth with Max White getting
his 1st of the season.
After that we hit the woodwork no less than 4 times. Only time will tell
if it will be a point gained or a point lost!
Stockport Vikings 3 Hollingworth
4 Weds 19/09/07
These
midweek games are a nightmare trying to get into Didsbury for a 6-30 kick
off!!!
The under 12s should have had this game won in the 1st half. We had that
many chances we could have won 2 games! Max White with 2 and a goal from
Ryan Murray put the visitors in control.Hollingworth seemed to get complaicent
and let the vikings draw level. It was left to Ryan Murray to head the
winner with 10 minutes remaining. The game ended in total darkness which
is ridiculous as we have a couple of free weekends later in the season.
Hollingworth 6 Chapel town Juniors
1 Weds 26/09/07
On
a cold and blustery morning the under 12s were convincing winners. Ryan
Murray opened the scoring firing through the keepers legs. Chapel were
soon level when a mix-up in the home defence left the forward with a tap
in. Elliot Draper restored the lead when he rounded the keeper to score
with his right foot (his first 1ever!) after Frank Donald had played him
in. The second half was one way traffic as Hollingworth played some lovely
football. Murray was fouled in the box and he dusted himself down to smash
the penalty into the top corner. He then scored again lobbing the stranded
keeper from the edge of the area. He still wasn't finished scoring after
a defence splitting pass from Josh Baines. That's 9 goals in 4 games and
he deserved to take the match ball home. Connor Simpson scored the final
goal from the spot to leave the visitors shellshocked. Chapel's manager
said his team could not cope with hollingworths slick passing.
Apollo Juniors 2 Hollingworth Juniors 4 Sun 30/09/07
Manager Pete Donald was forced into a change before the game had started
when Connor Clarke was taken ill. Elliot Draper taking his place in the
defence. Hollingworth were up and running quickly with Ryan Murray playing
a superb pass to Alex Ball who smashed his shot past the keeper. Bradley
Rawlinson soon increased the lead with a tap in after a mix up in the
home defence. He then added another beating two defenders to fire past
the overworked keeper. Apollo scored just before the break. They increased
the pressure in the second half and were rewarded with another goal when
the forward beat the offside trap to set up a tense finish. Hollingworth
were still the better side but needed another goal. It came when little
Alex Ball skinned the full back, his cross found Max White who's shot
rattled the bar. Simon Hallam was there to lash the rebound home. It really
shouldn't have got to fingernail biting but we will take the points anyway!
Hollingworth Juniors 3 Stockport Dynamos 4 Sun 8/10/07
Hollingworth have only themselves to blame for this defeat. They lost
because they couldn't cope with route 1 football. Credit to the dynamos
who play to there strengths. With a centre forward who towered over everybody
else on the pitch, there was only one way they were going to play. Hollingworth
were 2-1 up at the break with goals from Alex Ball and Ryan Murray who
scored his 10th of the season. With 15 minutes to go and Hollingworth
still the better team the away side scored the equaliser somewhat against
the run of play. Panic set into the home defence and two big punts upfield
were to be there downfall as the dynamos went 4-2 infront with the big
lad scoring a hat-trick. There was still time for Alex Ball to score again,
beating three defenders to fire in at the near post. Hollingworth will
have to put this first defeat of the season behind them and move on to
the next game which is Reddish athletic away.
Reddish Athlietic 1 Hollingworth
Juniors 4 Sun 14/10/07
Hollingworth got back to winning ways with an emphatic
victory. The win would have been more comfortable but for the heroics
of the home keeper. Ryan Murray got Hollingworth on there way after a
superb ball from Frank Donald split the defence, Murray firing past the
helpless keeper. Donald then got in on the act scoring a quite brilliant
goal. He beat three defenders before shooting into the bottom corner of
the net. Just after the break Murray scored again this time tapping home
after Elliot Draper's shot was parried into his path by the overworked
keeper. That put the striker on twelve goals already for the season. Reddish
kept going and scored a consolation goal when a free kick wasn't cleared.
Donald scored the final goal, reacting quickly to a knock down from Josh
Jackson. Special mention to Danny Ashton who marshalled the defence superbly
well.
Metro cup peliminary round Priory
county 1 Hollingworth Juniors 8
The
first cup match of the season resulted in a resounding win for Hollingworth.
On a superb pitch the u12s were out of the blocks early with Alex Ball
scoring after only five minutes. He left two defenders in his wake before
smashing a lovely shot into the bottom corner. Max White then took over
the goalscoring with a first half treble. His first was a tap-in when
Ball set him up. The second from a corner, hooking the ball home from
ten yards. His hat-trick goal was his best playing a 1-2 with strike partner
Frank Donald before rounding the keeper for a clinical finish. Priory
then scored a scrappy goal from a corner that wasn't cleared with there
only attack of the half. Frank Donald scored the fifth just after the
break, heading home a superb cross from Alex Ball. He didn't have to wait
long for his second when Josh Jackson played a delightful pass that beat
the off-side trap to lob over the stranded keeper. Danny Ogden then scored
the goal of the game.Volleying home from 25 yards to give him his first
goal in over a year. Bradley Rawlinson lobbed the final goal after another
superb pass from man of the match Alex Ball for a convincing victory.
Hollingworth 3 Whaley Bridge 3
Sun 04/11/07
The under 12s were up against there bogey side Whaley
bridge. They have failed to beat them in the previous five games. Mind
you they've drawn four of the games. Hollingworth scored first when Alex
Ball beat a couple of defenders to cross for Max White to lash home from
six yards. The u12s were playing some lovely football and it was no surprise
when Elliot Draper scored a beauty after Ryan Murray and Danny Ogden had
made the opening for him. Whaley netted just before the break after a
defensive mistake. Alex Ball soon restored the two goal advantage just
after half time, scoring at the keepers near post. The next ten minutes
were going to be vital, the home side just needed to be steady and see
it out. They didn't and another long ball upfield saw a missed header
and a goal out of nothing for Whaley. Hollingworth were having problems
with route one football and the away team could sense this. Hollingworth
had a corner that was headed away and the defender launched the ball upfield,
a slip from a home defender and Whaley bridge equalized. The draw felt
like a defeat! Hollingworth stay 2nd in the league. They looked superb
going forward but will have to defend better if they want promotion.
Hollingworth
5 Bramhall North Lions 1 Sun 11/11/07
The top two in the division were
up against each other and they put on a great show. Hollingworth were
up for the game and went 1 up after only five minutes. Elliot Draper scoring
from the edge of the area. The u12s were flying and creating lots of chances,
they won a penalty when a defender hand balled a shot from Simon Hallam.
Ryan Murray stepped up to score in the corner. Bramhall were having a
few chances but they were mainly long range shots. The third goal was
a great team goal involving five players ending with Ryan Murray heading
home Connor Simpsons wonderful cross. Bramhall kept going and scored a
good goal, the forward beating two defenders before slotting past Liam
Percy in nets. Hollingworth scored again just before the interval. Alex
Ball firing home the loose ball after the keeper parried Josh Jacksons
wicked shot. The second half was end to end and a great advert for the
Stockport metro league, The only surprise was that there was only one
more goal. Elliot Draper netting his second, scoring at the keepers near
post after bulldozing his way past the defence. The final action was Liam
Percy making a breathtaking one-handed save from a header, clawing the
ball back from behind him.
