Match reports 2007/2008 season

8/9/07 Stockport Dynamoes V HJFC

A Team Won 2-0: First game of the season and a good display of football. We dominated the game and won comfortably. Scorers: Sam Whiteman, Greg Moran

8/9/07 Woodley V HJFC

B Team Won 3-1: A good start for the team. This was fine team performance. The goals were well worked. Unfortunately, we also scored Woodley’s goal. Scorers: Josh Chapman (2), Fergal Hanna

15/9/07 HJFC V Rose Hill Rovers

A Team Won 2-1: For the second week running, we dominated the game and were unlucky to be drawing at half time. In the second half, we out passed and out played them but Rose Hill managed to score against the run of play. For the last 10 minutes, we hit the post, the crossbar and the goal keeper without scoring. With 2 minutes to go, Sam Whiteman struck a great free kick from 20 yards which hit the base of the post, but Simon Allison was first to react and hit the ball into the goal. Scorer: Simon Allison

B Team Lost 5-2: A very slow start, saw the “B” Team trailing despite playing some good football. They were soon 0-3 down. Early in the second half it was back to 1-3, but then some unfortunate defending saw Rose Hill go 1-4 up. Cameron Dickson scored another goal but, due to pushing hard to get back into the game, Rose Hill broke away to make it 2-5. A rather disappointing result but some positive play during the game. Scorer: Cameron Dickson (2)

22/9/07 Hyde Athletic V HJFC “A” Team

Score: 4 : 1 There was a high expectations of this being a good game due to the results of the previous season. Unfortunately, HJFC were too complacent and were full of themselves. However, to-day they received a football lesson from a good team. We were beaten 4 – 1. Scorer: Greg Moran

29/9/07 HJFC “A” Team v Richmond Rovers

Score: 5 : 0 After the previous week, the lads were left with no illusion that a better performance is expected from each individual. Straight from the second half kick off, after good play by Jordan McGrath in midfield, Jack Kennedy sent in a good cross which Elliott Fletcher tapped in. Scorer: Elliott Fletcher.

We should have been 2-0 up in this period but that was not to be and Marple scored 3 quick goals, 2 of which were defensive errors. A free kick by Jordan McGrath brought the scores closer just before half time. The second half brought 2 more goals for Marple. Scorer: Jordan McGrath

24/11/07 HJFC “A” Team V Hyde Athletic

HJFC “B” Team V Hyde Athletic

Score: 0 : 4 The weather affected this match. The players were very cold and this contributed to some not being able to put in a good performance. In second half, with a strong Hyde Athletic team running away with the game, the referee called an early halt to the game.

1/12/07 Richmond Rovers V HJFC “A” Team

Richmond Rovers V HJFC “B” Team

8/12/07 New Mills V HJFC “A” Team

New Mills V HJFC “B” Team

Score: 2 : 2 The weather conditions played another major part in this game. Whilst the “B” team played strongly in the first half, with Fergal Hanna scoring after a quick corner kick from Lewis Whipp and this was followed by Josh Chapman running on to a long clearance from Joe Miller and finishing well. However, by the second half, the cold was affecting some players and, in particular, Joe Miller was too cold to keep goal. The opposition took advantage of the team being one player down and came back to equalise.
