Woodley Albion 1 v 2 Hollingworth

When playing Woodley you know its going to be a good game, with both teams wanting to play the ball on the ground. With 12 players to pick from and only 7 players allowed on the pitch, I knew this was going to be a challenging morning. We started with Nathon in net Kallun & Ollie in defence Brandon on the right of midfield George on the left of midfield Ross in the middle & Callum up front. Lucy,Alec, & 2 Kierens as subs. The game started well with some good possession from hollingwoth. The training sessions are starting to show in the games now and good organisation from the players showed that we was on the  front foot. Brandon was a handfull for their left back as he never stopped running in attack & defence.George was a bit frustrated as he was man marked and could not get a good run at the defence - 20 goals plus already they new George was a threat. With not many chances for both teams Callum grabs a yard and a snap shot which works the keeper who drops the ball for Brandon to place home 1 nil to the Hollies. With a lack of communication at the back let Woodley in to equalise  _ Half time 1 - 1 SILLY mistakes lads. A change of formation was needed in the second half and we put Ollie in the midfield and he was so strong and affective. With Ross dropping into the defence helped Kallum steady the ship.Nathon found his voice again and was shouting GLORY MAN UTD only kidding Nathon it was BLUE MOON.Hollingworth kept pushing and George hits the post with a great strike. With time running out Callum has another good shot and the defender handles the ball PENALTY. No pressure George? The top goalscorer steps up Blasts the ball to the top corner BUT the keeper makes a great safe but deflects the ball back to George who rifles the ball into the roof of the net - with his fist & arm raised, the delight on his face the Captain yet again wins it for Hollingworth. Well done to all the players & staff.
In the friendly George is known as GOLDEN GLOVES?

 Holllingworth 2  v  0 Whaley Bridge U10’s
It was a bright start to the game with both teams seeing plenty of the ball . However it was the home side that had the early chances and it paid off with them having a couple of early corners, both being taken extremely well, one from George from the left and the other a beauty from Kalum on the opposite side. But unfortunately neither of them were ‘attacked ‘ by any of our players and the score remained goalless. We started off a great move from the back with some very good interchanging of passes with the ball eventually falling to Brandon who finished with great style 1- 0.
We continued to have the lions share of the game but without increasing our lead. We created a few more chances to increase our lead and with a little more luck would have. HT 1-0
Whaley continued to look dangerous and they rightfully got their equaliser although the Hollingworth defence could have done more to prevent it.
The second half continued very much as in the 1st half with Hollingworth having the majority of the play. Great work from Georgie down the left saw him deliver a good ball to the edge of the box where Ollie unleashed a terrific shot with his LEFT FOOT that nestled in the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance . Hollingworth continued to dominate the game and at times their football was very good but we had to be careful at the back because Whaley were always capable of scoring. Overall it was a great performance after last week’s below par performance and the lads were rightly told so and praised for their commitment, concentration , hard work and performance.
We had a friendly and once again, considering we only had the bare 7 players we stuck to our jobs, shuffled the pack and all lads carried on in the same fashion as in the 1st game and comfortably won 3 – 0.

Saturday 20/02/2010
Cheadle Heath 2 - 3 Hollingworth 3
The last two meetings have been draws so both teams new it would be a close game.We played a 1 - 2 - 2 - 2  formation Nathon Goalkeeper Andy & Ben Defence Josh & Ross Midfield and Callum & Kieran as strikers, Lucy & Kieran B as subs. The team talk was to press straight away, which we did and made so many chances in the first 5 mins we should of had a hat full of goals. With some nice play between Callum, Ross & kiearan we manage to get the ball in the penalty area for Josh to strike home from close range.Cheadle pushed forward and grab an equaliser for both teams to go in at half time 1 - 1. In the second half Hollingworth are on the front foot and creating chances left right and centre but same again cant find the net. Then a sucker punch as we are attcking in numbers leave Andy 4 v 1 and Cheadle take the lead 2 - 1. We sorted out the midfield with a few changes and we was back on top again ,with some great passes between the players Kieran breaks free and slots a beutiful goal home for Hollingworth to equalise. At this time in the game Hollingworth started playing as a unit form defence to attack and with swift passing the ball comes to Kieran who plays Ross in and does not need a second chance and strikes the ball home for Hollingworth, victory at last. A big thank you to Cheadle as they gave all our players a Hot dog after the match for free. We had a friendly afterwards and won 2  - 1.  I played Callum all the game and was outstanding as well as Ben who was well entertaining in the net, Nathon did play up front and was nick named Booney the Spooney ? just ask the rest of the players.

Saturday 06/02/2010
Bollington United 4 - 4 Hollingworth
An early start for the 8 players to reach their destination 20 miles away. The team arrives and with in 5 mins the ref wants to kick off, not the best preparation for the game.Straight away we go 2 nil down, lack of concentration and some players not playing for a month could not find their feet.We tried to get a few moves going and Callum breaks free and is tripped in the penalty area. Callum blasts the ball in the bottom corner 2 - 1.I thought this would spring us in to life but no we conceded another 2 goals
4 - 1 half time.As a Coach i had to change things to get anything out of the game we went with 3 up front 2 midfield and 1 defender plus our goalkeeper. plus a big half time chat about the way we should play the game.It was like a new team we attacked together and defended like a unit, now this was in place we just grew with confidence.Ross on the right takes on 3 players shoots and scores .Brandon had two great chances and missed he looked at me with disappointment, i told him to keep going and he did with his blistering pace skinned the defender and slots the ball home.Game on, tails up we just kept pressing and Ross pops up with equalizer that 5 in two games for Ross well done.A couple more mins we would have won no dought.Second half Andy & Ben outstanding with James behind them a clean sheet great defending - midfield Ross tight control great - lucy just never stops running ps Kev where's lucy's drink. Jordan may be small but has a big heart well done - Callum some great strikes today - Brandon i wonder if your still running your pace gave us the edge well done.

Saturday 30/01/2010
Hollingworth 11 - 1 Bramhall North 75 Valencia
A very cold morning in Cheadle for both players &  the parents. Not for the Coaches as they are seasoned proffesionals. With the overnight frost the game nearly did not go ahead. With an extended warm up and the sun starting to shine on the pitch a decision was to play the game.Valencia had a weaken team due to injuries but Hollingworth fielded a well balanced team.George opened the scoring in 30 seconds with a nice strike, but we conceded a corner not long after and lewis the keeper was directing his defense when they took a quick corner and hit Lewis on the inside of his leg and deflected in - so unlucky but thats football. As the ground got slightly softer Hollingworth began to play their football and opened up Valencia's defense With goals from George 2 Keiran 2 Brandon 2 Ollie 1 Kallum 1 And a Special mention to Ross with 3 Goals. The unmentioned sometimes are the defenders who work so hard Like Andy, Alec and the big man Lewis well done.
A special thank you to Brandon & Andy who played for the opponents in the friendly game as they had some injuries.Unfortunitly Andy played in the defense for Valencia and from a corner from Hollingworth Andy was marking ross but headed the ball home for his 1st goal of the season - an own goal but one for Hollingworth.Valencia wanted to sign Andy & Brandon for a cool 1 million pound each but we know their worth more than that.

Saturday 23/01/2010
Hollingworth 4 - 4 Inter Macc jfc Trojans

No game since November,I turned up to the ground with a fork & spade expecting the worse, with the recent weather conditions. The pitch was in perfect condition "not like the coaches".A quick pace to the game by both teams with chances falling to Hollingworth in the early stages. Not putting our chances away inter hit us on the break & a mix up at the back cost us the first goal.Hollingworth pressed straight away and equalised with George Roberts.Inter attacked down the right hand side and beat our keeper on the near post. From the start we only equalise again from George Roberts a well struck goal.Another mistake cost us again and inter go in 3 - 2 at half time.In the Second half Hollingworth picked their game up and some good defending and passing put Nathon Boone in to make it even.Chances of plenty kept coming but no goal.Inter take a corner kick with 5 mins to go our keeper catches the ball but drops it and the inter forward gets his 4th goal. Not to be out done Hollingworth dig in and fight till the end, with good passing down the left the Hollingworth players know they have to get the ball to George who does not disappoint his team and slots the ball home for his hatrick - take a bow son 17 goals to date.
We had a friendly afterwards and won 2 - 0 with goals from Kiearan B. & Callum R. well done lads.

Saturday 21/11/2009
Hollingworth 1 – 3 Woodley Albion Greens

Having played Woodley recently, we knew they were a well organized team. The first half chance in the game came from a corner with Ollie hitting the crossbar. Soon after, james made a good save but yet again, the opposition got to the rebound first and struck home. An instinctive attempt to clear a shot knocked the ball into our net . 2 – 0 . We continued to give them too much time on the ball and some excellent passingfrom Woodley split the midfield and defence wide open leaving 2 free players againstour keeper - no contest. 3 – 0 a disappointing first half. The second half saw more determination. Great pressure from Callum Rawlings forced a handling error from their keeper but he just couldn’t squeeze the ball home.Woodley preesd hard but some excellent defending from Kallum Stewart denied them twice. Hollingworth continued to work well and had numerous chances; 1 – a good corner from George found Callum Rawlings a header that just missed; 2 – a great long ball from Ollie nearly got George through; 3 – another great long pass Alec nearly put Callum Rawlings in; 4 – Callum Rawlings struck a great shot but a terrific save from their keeper denied him. Finally 30 secs before the end, George scored from a corner. 3 – 1 we won the second half 1 – 0 and were the better side in the second half.

Saturday 14/11/2009
Hollingworth 2 - 2 Cheshire Pumas Boys
With one of our matches postponed we had a squad of nine players and could field a strong team with the added bonus of actual substitutes for a change! The last meeting between both teams ended in a 5 - 2 defeat. We knew that Cheshire Boys were a good footballing team and we would have to raise our game. With a slightly sloped pitch and conditions very boggy under foot it made the going difficult for both teams. The plan was to get tight and mark players well and be strong in the challenge.Cheshire Boys pressed but Kallum and Andy were a match for them in defence. The midfield with the big man Olliie,Ross and the speed of a cheetah George was gelling together, to set up chances for the ever-improving Brandon up front. With good inter changing football down the left George enters the penalty area and is brought down.George puts the ball on the spot and slots the ball in the bottom left corner. Not long after kick off the home teams get a corner and our keeper unfortunately miss- handles his catch for their player to tap home.Hollingworth kept pressing and received a corner,George peeled to the front post and glanced the ball with his head into the bottom far corner.Straight from kick off Cheshire Boys push forward one of their players strikes the ball, it deflects of Kallum's ankle and leaves Lewis sranded.H.T 2 - 2. In the second half we intrOduced James & Kieron & with fresh legs Hollingworth continued to press without success. Both teams did not really have any further clear chances and a draw was a fair result for both teams.

Saturday 31/10/2009
Hollingworth B Team 1 - 1 Cheadle Heath Nomads

On Saturday we visited Cheadle and it was a pleasure to play on such a good pitch. The sun was shining and through the sunlight I've never seen so many low flying aircrafts!! Both teams cancelled each other out in the early exchanges with shots on goal few and far between. With James, Andy & Nathan strong in defence they kept the home team at bay.Josh received the ball in the midfield & played it out to the right to Kiearon, who beats his player crosses the ball for Jordan to slot the ball home for Hollingworth to go in at half time 1-0.We expected to push on in the second half and score more goals, but with late arrivals and a change of players, it left us weak in the midfield . A Cheadle player carried the ball past 2 of our midfield players without a tackle and took a 25 yard shot that ripped the net out. The game ended 1-1.We had a second game and that ended 1-1,Josh equalized for Hollingworth in the last minute from a corner.A more improved performance from Elliot, Lucy and Max in the second game, remember silly mistakes cost you games.

Saturday 24/10/2009
Hazel Grove B 3 Hollingworth B 0
A windy morning in Hazel grove, on a very large pitch saw Hollingworth match the opponents with great saves from Nathan, Andy & Lewis so strong in the defence and a debut for Jordan up front who was full of running. Josh, Alec, Ben & Max had a good 1st half as we went in 0 - 0 at half time. As always if you make a mistake you will be punished we had a bad 5 min spell and conceded 3 silly goals. Andy left stranded in defence 3 against 1, Nathan saving well and the forward tapping the ball home. Too many players were weak in the tackle and this needs to be addressed if we are to continue our progress.Lets not take anything away from Hazel Grove who took their chances well.

Saturday 24/10/2009
Hollingworth A Team 4 - 0 Signol Athletic
A great performance by Hollingworth after last weeks result. 2 goals from the goal machine George Roberts, an outstanding player, who has started the season brilliantly. The other goals were scored by Brandan and Callum. The whole team played well, from the goalkeeper to the forwards, well done lads.

Saturday 17/10/2009
Hollingworth 2 - 5 Cheshire Boys Pumas
Hollingworth 0 - 0 Cheshire Boys Pumas

Two good teams Playing attractive football. Half time 2 - 2 with two good goals from george Roberts.Simple mistakes and players out of position gave Cheshire boys the upper hand and they took their chances well.
A swift word from the manager worked and the second game was equal well done to both teams, some great football played.

Saturday 17/10/2009
Hollingworth B Team 0 - 2 Great moor County
Hollingworth B Team 2 - 0 Great moor County
A big thank you to Great Moor for the two friendly Games. Two evenly matched teams cancelling each other out through the 1st half. A few shots had by both teams but one fell to Great moor and was struck like a Rocket, Lewis the Cat caught the ball in the Stomach, sustained the shot but the ball trickled over the line 1 - 0 half time. Hollingworth pushed forward with some good runs from James And Kieran with Hollingworth pushing forward Andy was left with 3 against 1 and Great moor made it 2 - 0 Andy was strong in the tackle all the game and was shouting directions to players through out the game.
A change of keeper saw James in net Max in defence with Andy Ross in the midfield lucy on the right Kieran on the left and Elliot up front. A fresh looking Hollingworth picked their game up with solid goalkeeping from James. Andy, get passed me if you can attitude in defence, confidence spread through the team. Kieran recieved the ball on the left cuts inside and blasts the ball in the top corner - take a bow son. A much improved perfomance by all and in the last seconds Elliot chipped in with a second Goal for Hollingworth to win 2 - 0.

Saturday 10/10/2009
Hollingworth B Team 4 - 1 Richmond Rovers

A much improved Hollingworth performance right through the team.
James’ handling and distribution in net was outstanding, Andy & Lewis solid in the defence, Ben, Lucy & Josh strong in the midfield, the 2 forwards Kieran & Elliot full of running. We had to play six 6 aside as Richmond only had six players. The 1st goal josh collects the ball in the midfield and puts Kieran through who takes on the defender and slips the ball past the keeper. Good work from Ben puts Lucy in on the left hand side she passed the ball to Elliot who shot and scored.for the 2nd goal. A long kick from James releases Lewis who controls the ball well, Kieran takes the defender away and Lewis BBlasts the 3rd home for Hollingworth. Kieran saved the best till last with tight control he beat the defender and with the keeper of his line chipped the keeper for the 4th . With Hollingworth pushing forward Richmond broke away and scored a good consolation goal.

Saturday 10/10/2009
Hollingworth A Team 8 - 0 Richmond Rovers A
Goals galore as Hollingworth win 8-0. We had to play six aside as Richmond only had six players. With room on the pitch Hollingworth took advantage with George running down the left wing he crossed and Brandon placed the ball home. George again attacked down the left hand side and struck the ball home in the far corner. With confidence up Ollie played the ball to Alec- who passed to Callum , who went on an amazing run from the middle of the pitch and placed the ball home. Not done with that Callum strikes the ball sweet as a nut from 20 yards into the top corner. Half time
4 – 0 . With a change of positions saw Kalum Stewart up front who did not disappoint, with 2 good strikes made it 6 – 0 . Not to be out done Brandon chipped in with a second goal. With 3 players on a possible Hatrick things looked good. Ollie put Kalum through who was brought down in the penalty area , Kalum brushed himself down and took the penalty, unfortunately he hit it straight at the keeper, UNLUCKY . Minuites later the ball broke free in the box, it fell to Kalum to achieve his Hatrick.
(He wanted the match ball but could’’nt come up with the£8..99 for
the ball !!).
A solid performance all round and Nathan Boon our keeper had a relaxing morning.

Saturday 03/10/2009
Hollingworth B Team 0 - 5 Bollington United B
A windy day at home but the wind favored Bollington on this day.
Hollingworth went in at half time 1 nil down , Bollington pressed with the wind in the second half and scored another 4. Disappointing defensive tackles and chasing back was Hollingworths down fall , the only player who got a pat on the back was Nathon Boon with some quality saves well done Nathon.

Saturday 03/10/2009
Hollingworth A Team 1 - 1 Woodley Albion Greens

A big thank you to the Managers of Woodley for the friendly.
Two even teams fighting against the windy conditions, George Roberts opened the scoring for Hollingworth. With Woodley equalizing in the second half all honours were shared.

Saturday 26/09/2009
Inter Macc Trojans 3 - 2 Hollingworth A
This is undoubtedly Hollingworth's furthest away game of the Season but once again through brilliant research work and navigation we were there in 30 mins ! We had not one, not two but three players making their debuts so this was always going to be a big ask. Nevertheless all lads played their part in a fantastic game.
Hollingworth took an early lead thanks to a superb strike from debutee Ollie.
However the lead was short-lived and Hollingworth were 2-1 down at the break. It was only 30 seconds into the second half when Hollingworth equalised with a brilliant solo effort from Georgie Roberts. The game continued to sway from end to end with both teams having excellent chances, however it was the Home team who scored the vital goal. Hollingworth still had further chances to equalise, with Luke being particularly unlucky with a strike that hit the bar.
It really was a great advert for U10's football with both teams playing good football in a very good spirit.

Saturday 26/09/2009
Reddish Vulcans 4 - 1 Hollingworth B
A big thank you to Reddish Vulcans for the friendly game with our B team in such short notice. With players missing and fielding under aged players we new it was going to be a up hill struggle , we went in 1 - 0 down at half time but could not sustain this in the second half . A big powerfull Vulcans team netted 3 more times. A long kick from Nathan found Lewis in space and pulled one back for Hollingworth. Lucy was outstanding, full of running , Kieran run his socks off, Andy took one for the team with a ball right in his face, Alec put a full shift in, Joe got lost in the grass - so tiny had a gooden, Nathan made some good saves and distrubuted the ball well,Lewis scored a goal and and worked hard in the middle of the pitch.

Saturday 12/09/2009
Hale united 0 - 2 Hollingworth A
A great start to the season, Hale are a big strong side and it was an iemmense challenge tfor Hollingworth. Both teams were evenly matched for the first 5 mins, then a slick move between Luke & George fed in Callum to open the scoring. Save of the match came from James with an amazing reaction save to keep us in the game. In the Second half Hale tired and Hollingworth had a number of chances, the second goal came from a long throw to George who controlled the ball superbly, turned and placed the ball home.
Brandon had a great debut, Josh, Kallum ,Andy & James in defence were outstanding the midfield were full of running, overall a very satisfying morning.

Thursday 10/09/2009
Well done to both teams on thursday,we had a friendly against Great Moor County.
The A team won 3-0, the B team lost 4-0
Then we mixed the teams around ie letting the keepers out and playing players in different positions.
Won 4-0 and drew 2-2. A big thank you to Great Moor County for the friendly both teams enjoyed the sunny evening in Bramhall.
