We dominated the game and were shocked to be 1-0 down after 15 minutes, so the lads soon picked up the pace and equalized with a good goal by McGrath, half time 1-1. 2nd half saw HJFC dominate scoring 3 goals in 5 minutes securing the win. A good result for the first match final score HJFC 5 - 2 Mountfield Rovers. 20/09/09 V Queensgate A An afternoon K.O. saw us away to Queensgate, who last season beat us 2-1. With only a bare 11 players, we set about Queensgate like 'Tasmanian Devils' and soon found ourselves 1-0 up. It could have been 2-0 by 1/2 time but for some 'off-target' shooting!. We dominated throughout the 2nd half, Will Hallam scoring a beauty, but Queensgate got one back and pushed for the equalizer. Then on a quick break with some great one-touch football, Kyle Ryan scored in only his 2nd league game. Result HJFC 3-1 Queensgate. 27/09/09 V Stockport Vikings H A game we should have won had we lived up to last week's standards.10 minutes in and Cameron Dixon scored a 'cracker', HJFC were 1-0 up. Unfortunately somehow we then lost interest and Stockport equalized. The 2nd half didn't see much improvement from us and Nile Murray finding his own net didn't help either. Heads went down and Stockport scored again! Final score HJFC 1-3 Stockport Vikings - we got what we deserved - nothing. Sunday 18/10/09 the under 12's entertained Mountfield Rovers in the 1st round of the Stockport Metro Cup at Brabyns Park, Marple. After a few games suffering poor results, this weekend saw Hollingworth return to their early season form and winning ways. They took the lead early on in the first half with a fine header from Jordan McGrath, this was quickly followed by another goal from Alex Gullia who played exceptionally well throughout. Mountfield settled then and both Hollingworth’s defense and their keeper, Henry Dunkerley had work to do. However Kyle Ryan snatched a third goal for the home team just before half time and after the break the visitors never looked in contention. Goals galore in the second half, each showing great team work and some individual effort from Jack Kennedy, Will Hallam and Greg Moran, whilst McGrath and Gullia both added to the tally again. Final Score 8-0 safely through to the next round. Sunday 22/11/09 Away to Marple Athletic in Stockport Metro cup. A really closely contested match and a great game to watch saw HJFC under 12s emerge victorious after being 2 all at half time the final score was 5-4 .Goals went to Alex Gullia 3 and Cameron Dixon 2 Sunday 13/12/09 Away to Mountfield Rovers on a chilly but sunny morning Hollingworth were 3-1 up by half time and finshed with a 6-3 win. Goals Joe Miller 2, Kyle Ryan 2, Will Hallam and Ales Gullia. Sunday 24/01/10 v Queensgate A in the cup On a wet cold day, having not played for 6 weeks, the lads were really up for it. Within 10 mins a great through ball from Nile Murray to Alex Gullia gave him a superb opportunity to finish well and be first on the score sheet. HJFC dominated the game and were surprised to find themselves with the ball picking the ball out their own net due to a defensive lapse. They soon regained control with a 'thunderbolt' from Jack Kennedy leaving the Queensgate keeper grasping at thin air..... half time 2-1 up. The second half continued in much the same way with Hollingworth adding two more goals again form Kennedy and Gullia. All the team played well and didn't show their lack of match practice, Jordan Mc Grath in particular won every header in the game a sterling effort in those conditions, so well done boys quarter-finals here we come! Sunday 07/02/10 Rose Hill Rovers A Lost 1-0 Sunday 14/02/10 Glossop NE A Despite valiant efforts by the defence, midfield, forwards and especially Henry in goal the extremely confident opposition proved too much for Hollingworth this time - final score 7-2 Sunday 28/02/10 Inter Cheadle H A fine all round team effort with goals from Dixon, Gullia and Kennedy gave a well deserved 3-0 victory to Hollingworth. Sunday 07/03/10 Rose Hill Rovers H Despite the spring weather the team lacked the sparkle from last weeks win and allowed their oppostion to exploit this. Unfortunately Dixons superb goal was not enough and a 1-3 defeat the final score. |
