Training - Tuesday - 7 pm to 8 pm at Longdendale Community College

Stalybridge  V Hollingworth            10/4/10

A very disappointing game after the previous match. Thrashed 10 - 0. No positives from this game.

Denton Phoenix V Hollingworth  30/3/10

Nine Man Heroes - on a night when the weather was against us, the pitch was a mud bath and only 9 players played - the unexpected happened. Every player gave both an outstanding individual performance and a fantastic team performance.

Incredibly, Charlie Higham scored half way into the first half. He neatly slotted into the bottom corner out of the reach of the keeper. Unfortunately, during a Phoenix attack their forward was bearing down on goal inside the 18 yard box, the ball stuck in the mud and Fergal Hanna ran into the back of the player. The referee gave a penalty which they scored.

The players were told that whatever happened in the second half did not matter as they already provided an outstanding performance. However, the team stuck at it and with some strong defending and good goal keeping, the players kept going to earn a deserved draw. Everyone of them deserved the highest praise for this performance.

Hollingworth V Denton Youth             27/3/10

This was always going to be a hard task, against a team that is likely to win the division. We started brightly and compete well. However, they finished 2 of several chances in the first half. In contrast, we had hit the post and had several chances scrambled away. It was not a fair reflection of the play.

However, in the second half, we went further behind and as a result lost cohesion and team work. Denton eventually finished 8-0 winners.

Hyde Utd Tigers V Hollingworth        20/3/10

There was an expectation that we could do well in this game. Unfortunately, Tigers clearly wanted to win more than we did. They were stronger in the tackle and won a greater share of possession. By half time, we were 3-0 down. Tigers added another 2 before we won a free kick just outside the box. Jordan Ratcliffe scored one of his trade mark free kicks and the game finished 5-1.

Clayton Villa V Hollingworth               13/3/10

A game in which expectations were not high. Clayton are contesting the top spot and have a physically strong side. The referee did not turn up, but Tony Doyle step in and won praise from both sides.

We made a contest of it, but Clayton were too strong. Finlay Peacock and Jordan Ratcliffe scored to provide some respectability. Lost 7 - 2.

Hollingworth  V Royton Town             27/2/10

This was a game of the bottom 2 in the division. However, if we had a good performance, it was a game that we could expect to win, having previously beaten them earlier in the season.

We made lots of chances throughout the game. However, the only one that we converted was a long ball over the defence which Charlie Higham ran onto a scored. Unfortunately, some indecision in defence allowed Royton to equalise. A game that we should have won.  Draw 1 -1.

3  D Dynamos V Hollingworth           20/2/10

A cold morning up in the hills. The team played well and attacked strongly. A number of chances were created and were thwarted by a number of good saves, misses or hitting the post and cross bar. Eventually, the inevitable happened, 3 D had an attack with less than 5 minutes and scored. Although, everything was done to equalise, it was not to be. This was not a game that we deserved to lose. Lost 1 - 0.

Hollingworth V 3 D Dynamos            6/2/10

This was seen as a game that could be and needed to be won. We attacked with conviction and good passing. This resulted in goals for Sam Capper, Reece Mohan and William Bennett. Win 3 - 0.

Heyside Juniors V Hollingworth        12/12/09

The opposition had great expectations, having beaten us previously convincingly. However, the players put in a strong battling performance. We were forced to play uphill first half and it was 3 -1 at half time. We pulled it back to 3 - 2, but they then scored again. However a tremendous finished when we pulled it back to 4 -3 but did not get the equaliser that we deserved. Lost 4 -3.

Hollingworth V Clayton Villa            14/11/09

Clayton were a very physical side. This clearly affected our performance.  Our goal was through another well executed free kick from Jordan Ratcliffe.  Lost 9 -1.

Denton Phoenix V Hollingworth 7/11/09 League Cup

Game Postponed

Hollingworth V Heyside                      31/10/09

A result that did not reflect the performance. We were losing 2 - 0 at half time but had created as many opportunities as the opposition. Sam Capper scored a fantastic goal after dribbling through several players. Heyside scored another. We had a chance to score through a penalty but this was saved. Unfortunately, the opposition scored with another penalty and by the time the last went in, we were a beaten team. Lost 5 -1.

Denton Youth V Hollingworth             24/10/09

One of the best teams in the division with several players of academy standard. In particular, they have 2 very good forwards which was largely the difference in the teams. We went 2 - 0 down. Gareth Booth, having bought a new pair of boots that morning, scored a wonder strike from just inside the centre circle. Denton score 2 more before a good passing move saw the Denton keeper parry a shot from Nathan Ratcliffe which Sam Gregory followed up on and scored.

Unfortunately, Denton's strength told in the second half and they scored 6 more times. However, this was also have some very good goal keeping and defending had prevented other opportunities. Lost 10 - 2.

Reddish V Hollingworth                 17/10/09

A poor start saw the team 2-0 down within 20 minutes. Jordan pulled one back before half time with a well placed free kick from just outside the 18 yard line. Unfortunately, the Reddish keeper saved our penaltly in the second half. This deflated the team and two scappy goals meant the final score was 4-1 to Reddish. Josh Chapman was nominated Man of the Match.

Denton Youth V Hollingworth            24/10/09
Denton Youth are presently flying high at the top of the division. We knew this was going to be a big challenge. We were soon 1-0 down but within 5 minutes, Nathan had a shot from the right handside which their keeper could only parry. Sam (G) followed and thumped it into the net 1-1. Denton went ahead again with a tremenduous strike that Josh (Q) could not stop 2-1. Unfortunately, we struggled at set pieces and Denton went further ahead to 4-1. However, heads did not drop and with just over 5 minutes to half time, Gareth had a strike from just inside the opposition half which sailed into the top corner 4-2.  Just before half time, Denton went further ahead 5-2.
Whilst Denton scored 3 more goals in the second half, there were several fine saves from Josh (Q) and some good blocks by the defenders. It was also pleasing to see that the team continued to push forward and in the last few mintues some chances were created but we did not score. Final result 8-2. Josh (Q) was named our man of the match by the oppositon.
